About the Course

Childminders offer professional home-from-home childcare and early education. They frequently work from their own home and are perfectly placed to support the early learning and development for children of various ages, working closely with parents to provide bespoke childcare.

This qualification prepares learners to set up a home based childcare setting as a registered childminder.

Duration: The course is split into 8 weekly online live sessions, 1 per week and should take around 50 hours to complete.

Time commitment: The expected time commitment is about 6 hours per week across the 10 weeks, made up of trainer-led teaching, and guided self-study.

Entry requirements: There are no formal entry requirements, but students must have a good level of English, and experience of the Early Years is desirable.

Assessment criteria: Each learner must create a portfolio of evidence generated from appropriate assessment tasks, which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes associated with each unit. The assessment tasks should allow the learner to respond to a real life situation that they may face when in employment.
