Sleep

Sleep is gaining momentum as one of the fundamental pillars of good health, alongside diet, physical activity and emotional wellbeing. As we uncover more details about the effects of poor sleep, more and more people are prioritising addressing sleep issues. And this extends to parents focussing on their children’s sleep. This is driven by two factors: the desire to give their children the optimal conditions for growth and development, especially regarding learning and cognition, and to give themselves more sleep opportunity from having their children sleeping well.

Helping You Choose a Sleep Course

The sleep-health economy is growing and there are many opportunities to work within it. Broadly speaking, this can be split into

1) products such as black out blinds or white noise machines,

2) medical intervention, typically for more serious sleep disorders, and

3) services, which comprise of routine modification and intervention, typically provided by sleep practitioners.

As such, parents are realising the value of child sleep consultants to either help implement good sleep routines, or to fix problematic sleep in their children. The market is still niche, but the trend suggests that the use of sleep practitioners could become mainstream.

Our flagship course is the popular sleep practitioner programme that is designed to produce competent sleep practitioners.

We’re also aware that some people are looking for a shorter course that conveys the key principles, either as an introductory entry point into sleep practice, or as an adjunct to a related role – for instance, for GPs, occupational therapists, maternity nurses, nannies etc. That is why we are currently working on additional courses to meet the needs of our wider student base.
