The brain is the most complex organ in the body, and the first few years in our lives are the most crucial for optimal brain development. The first semblance of the brain starts after just a few weeks after conception, and from that point, the brain grows at an astonishing rate, using the time in the womb to build all the necessary architecture. Once the baby is born, and no longer shielded from the environment, it is exposed to a vast array of experiences and stimuli and these help shape the wiring of the brain.
Our flagship neuroscience for the early years practitioner is a comprehensive view of neuroscience in relation to using this knowledge in early years practice. As well as the basics of neurobiology and brain anatomy, it focuses on teaching the student how social cognition develops, about self- and co- regulation, and how to manage behaviour through modern, neuroscience-based approaches.
In addition to this, we regularly run short courses relating to brain and behaviour, and emotion coaching.
