How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through a portfolio of seven assessments, which are internally assessed and externally quality assured. Each one asks you to apply your learning to realistic practice, building towards a final integrated case.

  1. Professional Practice, Ethics and Safeguarding. A written analysis of realistic scenarios covering scope, safeguarding, ethics, inclusion and referral.
  2. Evidence Appraisal. A critical appraisal of contrasting sources on a paediatric sleep topic (around 1,000–2,000 words).
  3. Professional Consultation and Reflection. A recorded or observed role-play consultation with a parent, followed by a short reflective commentary.
  4. Collaborative Goal Setting and Support Planning. A case-based task moving from conversation to agreed goals and an initial plan.
  5. Complex Child and Family Case Analysis. A substantial written analysis of how multiple developmental, relational and family factors interact.
  6. Health Indicators and Referral Decision-Making. Scenario-based analysis of red flags, scope and when to refer.
  7. Holistic Sleep Assessment and Individualised Sleep Support. The final integrated case: assessment, sleep science rationale, formulation, a support plan and a review following new information.

The qualification is graded Achieved or Not Yet Achieved.

What I Loved:

  • I truly appreciated the involvement of multiple instructors who shared practical, real-life examples.
  • The chance to ask questions during the sessions was precious and helped clarify the material.
  • The course content itself was phenomenal—practical, realistic, and beneficial for families.
  • It’s the kind of knowledge I believe every family should have, as it addresses such a crucial topic with a modern and supportive approach.
  • The course’s philosophy of supporting and empowering families is outstanding. In my experience, many parents struggle alone, and sometimes just a little guidance can significantly improve sleep challenges.

I also want to highlight the exceptional support and feedback from Julie and Kris. Their feedback was the most supportive and constructive I’ve ever received, and it made the entire process an incredibly positive experience for me.

– Dorottya P.

I had a great experience! I found a course that not only addressed the science behind sleep problems but also gave me the insights I was looking for. It can be tough to find reliable, research-backed resources for sleep, so it’s great that LSCS delivered.

– Samera S.

Last year I completed the Sleep Practitioners course and found it very interesting and helpful. It was great that LSCS followed it up to try and get more business by offering 2 coaching sessions.

– Jennifer B.

I found the course very informative, all the tutors were very knowledgeable and approachable, worked well doing the course via zoom

– Rachel L.

I really enjoy the format of the lesson, and assessment, as this put you to work in the research to found solutions and this create a great habit in wanting to learn more and more. This actually put yourself to create your unique way to learn and be confident in your decision when you will use the notions you did learn in the practicality of the job.
Highly recommend
