A career in childcare is very rewarding and there are many different career pathways to choose from. These are broadly distinguished by the place of work: either in a private home or in a public setting.

Fully Qualified or Accredited Courses

Foundation courses are comprehensive studies with element of assessment, and lead to either an NCFE (CACHE) qualification, or accreditation with OCN (the Open College Network).

Courses for anyone wishing to register on the voluntary part of the Ofsted childcare register (vOCR).

ELCAS Approved Learning Provider

The London School of Childcare Studies is an Approved Learning Provider for the Enhanced Learning Credit Scheme (ELCAS), offered by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to support ex-service personnel in their career transitions.

The ELCAS scheme provides funding for training to help you build a future career. Serving MOD members can learn more about their Enhanced Learning Credits on the ELCAS website.

Registered with the UKRLP

The UK Register of Learning Providers (UKRLP) is a central system where UK government departments, agencies, and organisations can find and share important information about learning providers. It allows providers to update their details in one place, making it easier to share with groups like the Skills Funding Agency, UCAS, and others.

Each learning provider is allocated a UK Provider Reference Number (UKPRN).
